In the next few weeks I will install a new barrel in a TAPCO kit, using a Hesse recvr. Problem; front sight is attached in some way that so far has defeated my attempts to press off with heat. Any comments as to your best method for removal without destroying the sight. This is my second CETME build but first re-barrel of same

I have never removed one, but I have inspected several CETME kits where what appeared to be silver-solder could be seen in the recesses between the three-ring tower and the barrel. I believe proper removal will require you to remove the retaining pin that is also the forward sling attachment, and you will probably need to heat the part to melt the solder and press it off. I hope this helps, but like I said, I haven't done it.

Good luck
